Vashon Artists in Schools Program Components
Vashon Artists in Schools is intended to enhance and build curriculum in the arts for all learners in Vashon public schools. The primary components of the program are:
- Teacher-Initiated Classroom Partnerships that pair local and regional artists with teachers. Collaboratively designed projects are linked to curriculum themes and arts education goals based on Essential Academic Learning Requirements in arts and other subject areas
- Artist/Teacher Mentorships & Workshops which provide intensive arts training for teachers
- Public Art initiatives that emphasize process-based, collaborative projects for school and community sites
- Special Projects dedicated to supporting parent-initiated Ethnic Arts experiences.
