Robotics Teams Prepare for Competition

    The students of Vashon are participating in a national robotics program organized by http://www.usfirst.org and its’ regional partner http://www.firstwa.org

H1N1 Leveling Off at McMurray

McMurray has had high absence rates for most of last week and this week, with many being flu like illness. We can assume that most of those are the H1N1 flu. This week we are seeing about half the number from last week although the number is still above normal. During periods of extreme weather and/or power outages, radio/TV stations will report closures and changes of schedule.  You may access the latest information at http://www.vashonsd.org, http://www.schoolreport.org or by calling the VISD District Office at 206-463-2121 for a recorded message.  The following are the options when it becomes necessary to close schools, change the starting time for the day or adjust bus routes.

Students Place 2nd and 3rd in Math is Cool Regionals

  The Regional “Math is Cool” Competition was held on Friday, November 6th at Mt. Rainier High School in Des Moines, WA.  Our 7th grade team placed 2nd; 8th grade placed 3rd.  Anna Ripley, 7th grade, received a 7th place trophy in the individual competition.

H1N1

H1N1 virus is beginning to spread through Vashon schools. Although this is not a severe flu, it is very contagious. Please keep sick children home if they show flu-like symptoms. They should stay home for at least 24 hours after a fever breaks without the use of fever-reducing medications.
