2013-14 Calendar Approved By School Board
Help set the course for the future of education in the Vashon Island School District
Schedule of Strategic Planning Meetings:
We are making progress on our strategic planning!
On April 25th the school board will discuss approval of the revised mission statement formed by consensus of our strategic planning team. It is, "To equip every student to engage, thrive, and contribute within an ever-changing world".
Currently we have smaller teams putting the finishing touches on the:
Objectives - the verifiable indicators that we are accomplishing the mission above. We expect the objectives to be presented at the May 28th meeting.
Strategies - the major deployments of system-wide resources necessary to accomplish the mission an objectives. We expect draft strategies to be presented at the Math 28th meeting.
Schedule of Strategic Planning Meetings:
January 17th - "Characteristics our students need to face the challenges they will encounter"
February 12th - "Developing a common awareness of research and best practices in schools and learning"
March 7th, "Defining the district's mission so that all may thrive"
March 26th, "Measurable objectives to monitor our progress and performance"
May 28th, 4-7 p.m., VHS Library - "Identifying effective strategies and parameters to implement the plan"
The fifth strategic planning session will be held on May 28th, 4-7 PM @ VHS Library.
Space is limited and you must RSVP below to attend.
We will continue our conversation about education, schools, how youngsters learn and thrive, and begin the conversation to define the district's strategies (major deployments of system-wide resources necessary to accomplish the mission and objectives. Discrete sets of action plans will be developed later for each).
