What Happens on PDD Days?

Professional Development Days (PDDs) carve out time for teachers to grow professionally and, in turn, to transfer what they learn to the classroom. Students are the ones who ultimately benefit, whether it’s from a teacher who’s learned how to explain a concept in a way that makes sense or from a change in curriculum that ensures that no student misses an important lesson.

OSPI Explains Budget Challenges

To balance Governor Gregoire’s Book I budget (published on December 9th) it’s likely that all state discretionary spending on K-12 education will be cut. In addition to education cuts, the next budget (Book II) is likely to include tax increases and or revised tax practices. Teachers Honored for National Certification

Teachers Colleen Carlson (9th-grade humanities) and Doug Swan (5th grade) were honored by the school board on December 10th for successfully completing the National Board Certification Program.  They join McMurray math teachers, Jenny Granum and Cornelius Lopez, who previously received national certification.
